Dental Bridges

Are there gaps or spaces between your teeth? Are there permanent teeth missing from your smile? Dr. McKinley-Holloway and Dr. Arben Uldedaj may recommend a dental bridge. A dental bridge is an appliance that closes the gap between teeth by replacing missing teeth. Traditional tooth bridges are made up of a replacement tooth with dental crowns attached on either side. At our Shelby Township, MI office, we proudly provide the highest quality dental implant bridges. These fixed bridges are supported by dental implants instead of dental crowns.

Reasons for a Dental Bridge

Our Shelby Township dentists may place a dental crown to:

  • Restore your smile
  • Restore your ability to chew and speak properly
  • Maintain your face shape
  • Properly distribute your bite
  • Keep your remaining teeth from shifting out of position

Benefits of Fixed Dental Bridges

There are many benefits to choosing fixed implant-supported bridges over traditional bridges. With traditional bridges, the healthy teeth on either side of the gap are shaved down to allow room for the dental crowns. Implant bridges do not require the altering of healthy teeth. Traditional bridges also place strain on the teeth that support the bridge. Implant-supported bridges do not get their support from other teeth. Instead, they are supported by a dental implant surgically placed in the jaw. This implant provides a strong foundation, akin to your natural tooth roots.

When creating your dental bridge, our dentists will select shade of porcelain that will match the shade of your natural teeth. Upon completion of the procedure, our dentists will place it in your mouth to check the fit and color. After making any necessary adjustments, our dentists will permanently cement your dental bridge in place.

We proudly serve the Michigan communities of Shelby Township, Macomb, Clinton Township, and many more. We invite you to contact our office at 586-685-0880 to learn more and book an appointment.

Dental Bridge FAQs

What is a dental bridge?

Dental bridges work best when replacing one or two lost teeth. Traditionally, they are anchored to the teeth on either side of the gap with dental crowns. Dental bridges can also be anchored with a dental implant. Bridges can restore the bite, function, and appearance of your smile.

What is an implant-supported bridge?

An implant-supported bridge is a bridge that is permanently anchored in place by dental implants. The number of dental implants may vary depending on your individual needs.

How long will my implant last?

With proper care, dental implants can last for a lifetime. Keep in mind that while the implant may remain firmly in place, the dental bridge itself may need replacement at some point if it wears out or receives damage.

How do I care for my implant-supported bridge?

Care for your dental implant in the same way you would your natural teeth. Brush your teeth twice daily, floss at least once a day, and visit our office for regular cleanings.
