Restorative Dentistry FAQs

What is restorative dentistry?

Restorative dentistry is a field of dental care focused on repairing and replacing damaged teeth. The purpose of restorative dentistry is to give you back full oral function so that you can feel confident in smiling, speaking and eating and enjoy better oral health. Restorative treatments range from simple fillings inlays and onlays to crowns, bridges, dentures, implants and root canal therapy.

What are my options for replacing my missing teeth?

There are several options for replacing your missing tooth or teeth. During your consultation, we will discuss these options with you so that you can make an informed decision about the type of replacement you receive. Some tooth replacement options include:

  • Single-tooth implants
  • Dental bridges and implant bridges
  • Implant-supported dentures
  • Traditional complete or partial dentures

Why should I have restorative work done instead of having a tooth pulled?

Retaining your original teeth is usually a better option for your long-term oral health. Typically, we will not recommend a tooth extraction unless the tooth cannot be successfully restored and is causing damage to your remaining teeth and oral health.

Is restorative dentistry an option for children?

Yes. Our dentists will examine your child’s mouth if they have a cavity or have been injured to determine if a restorative treatment is needed and which treatment is the right option for your child.

How much will my restorative treatment cost?

Your treatment cost depends on the severity of the damage to your teeth and the treatment or combination of treatments you will be receiving. After your consultation, we will provide you with an estimate of your cost before you begin treatment. Many dental insurance plans cover at least part of the cost, and we will work with you to maximize your insurance benefits.
