For patients with gaps in their smile, our practice provides a range of restoration treatments. One of the most common restoration appliances are dentures. If a patient is missing most or all of their teeth, Dr. McKinley and Dr. Holloway recommend making an appointment for dentures in Shelby Township, Michigan.
What are dentures?
Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth and restore the beauty and functionality of your smile. Our office offers both complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the permanent teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some of the teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw.
We provide both traditional and custom dentures. Often, we recommend custom dentures so patients can enjoy a more comfortable, better fitting appliance. When dentures are individually made, there is less likelihood for slippage or missed alignment. For an even more natural smile, we may also recommend implant-supported dentures. Find out more about how implants make wearing dentures easy; read through Implant-Supported Dentures.
The denture making process takes several weeks and a few appointments. After our dentists determine which type of dentures are right for you, they will make impressions of your jaw and take measurements of how your jaws relate to each other. Using the impressions and measurements, our dentists will create models in the exact shape as your future dentures. Our dentists will have you try on these models to check the color, shape, and fit before the final denture is made. Once the models are satisfactory, the final denture is constructed and any final adjustments will be made as necessary. Contact us at 586-685-0880 if you have any questions about partial or full dentures.
