Dental crowns are an important restorative tool because they protect teeth that have been damaged, or weakened by dental work. But they can take weeks to complete making them. CEREC crowns, available at Ray McKinley DDS & Brittany McKinley-Holloway DDS — McKinley General, Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry in Shelby Township, speeds up the process to just one day.
How Does It Work?
CEREC same day dental crowns use Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology and 3D imaging to create a crown that fits your tooth perfectly. A CEREC crown retains your natural bite and gumline contours.
First we take a 3D image of your tooth with an intraoral scanner. The image is converted to a digital model with the CEREC CAD/CAM software. The digital model is transmitted to the milling machine.
